When it comes to those end of year worst movie lists that reviewers love to churn out, a notable absentees have been, so far, the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. These annoying movies seem surprisingly well tolerated, despite those voices that drill into your brain and eventually reach the point where you feel as if there is a hyperactive fly in your ear that can’t find its way out.
The latest movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks; Chipwrecked is as banal and inoffensive as the 2009 offering “Squeakquel”, and although this third assault on the hearing also brought with it the hopes that this would be the final chapter in this saga, the expected bountiful receipts as the box office seem certain to deny us this pleasure. - Director: Mike Mitchell
